Evelyn Ann Phillips was born 5 January 1903 in Indian Territory in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, USA. She was 5th of the nine children born to Henry Anderson Phillips (1868-1938) and Margrett Ann [Howard] Phillips (1876-1917). Siblings: Epsie [Phillips] Blanton (1891-1961), Jerry Thomas Phillips (1894-1963), Vernie Adeline [Phillips] Compton (1897-1976), Gustie Guy Phillips (1900-1966), George Harvey Phillips (1905-1987), Limuel Buel Phillips (1908-1966), Paul Anderson Phillips (1912-1964) and Hattie Irene [Phillips] Hughes/Miller (1916-1983). She was married to Joseph Clarence Ayers (1895-1958). They never had any children of their own but she and her husband raised her niece Lorene Phillips (daughter of Limuel Buel and Addie Phillips). Evelyn passed away 19 March 1960 in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri and she was laid to rest next to her husband in the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri.
