Mrs. Louis (Julia) Hykel, 94, of West, formerly of Abbott, died August 31, 1985, at a Waco hospital. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. September 1 in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. September 2 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, the Rev. Bill Spong as celebrant. Burial was at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Mrs. Hykel was born September 12, 1890, in Fayette County. She had lived in West for several years and had been a resident of Abbott for 25 years. She was a member of KJZT Society No. 104 of Abbott. She was married to Louis Hykel in 1914. Survivors include her husband of West; a son, L.A. Hykel of Abbott; four dauthers, Mrs. Anton (Helen) Pustejovsky of West; Mrs. Jim (Clara) Nors of Abbott; Mrs. Fred D. (Leona) Taylor of West and Mrs. Homer (Judy) Ridlehuber of Hillsboro; a sister, Mrs. Emil (Bertha) Dudik of Penelope; 26 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Barnard Pustejovsky, Robert Nors, Ronald Janek, Edward Hykel, Leon Pustejovsky, and Michael Pustejovsky. Honorary pallbearers were: all other grandsons. The family has designated the West Rest Haven Chapel Fund for memorials. Kotch Funeral Home of West was in charge of arrangements.
