Bio

Son of Samuel Allen and Mary (Norvell) Allen . ∼ Died, at the home of his parents, four miles north-east of Salisbury, on Friday, Oct. 17, 1890, J. W. Allen, aged 29 years. The deceased was thrown from a horse about two years ago, fracturing a rib and causing an abscess to form in his side. A part of the rib was removed a few days since by a surgeon from St. Louis, assisted by the physicians of this city, but he was too weak to withstand the operation, which was a last resort to save his life, the end of which was only a question of a few days. Funeral services were held at Prairie Valley church the following day, by Rev. D. B. Clifton of Darksville, in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives, at the close of which his remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place.
