From the October 27, 2009, edition of The Quad-City Times (Davenport, IA) BETTENDORF - Services for George R. Malone, 80, Bettendorf, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one half hour prior to the service Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Mr. Malone died Saturday, October 24, 2009. at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf. Mr. Malone was born January 16, 1929, in Genoa, Neb., to Thomas and Alice (Zabka) Malone. He retired in 1991 as street foreman after 32 years from the City of Bettendorf. He married Barbara Jean Bundy on February 12, 1949, in Davenport. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing with their friends and visiting their children and families. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Patti (Frank) Burch, Tucson, Ariz., Ruth (Bill) Young, Waterloo, Iowa, and Cindy (Mike) Norman, Troy, Mo.; one son, Tom, of Bettendorf; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Tallmage, of Arkansas, and Shirley Bangert, of Nevada; and brother, Richard Malone, of Bettendorf. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, George Malone Jr., six brothers and five sisters.
