Born the son of Thomas Jefferson Knight (1827 – 1892) and Martha Ann Sanders Knight (1832 – 1880), he married in 1875 in Upshur Co. to Sarah Elizabeth Corbitt Knight (1853 – 1881) and their children were Ambrose Franklin Knight (1873 – 1958), Martha P.
