Born the son of George Washington Knight (1854 – 1881) and Sarah Elizabeth Corbitt (1853 – 1881), he married in 1902 to Mamie M. Matherly (1885 – 1959). Their children were Earl Benjamin Knight (1903 – 1976), Johnny Knight (1903 – ), Charley Levi Knight (1905 – 1982) and Bernice Melvin Knight (1907 – 1964). Biography by Ron Wade
