Graveside services for Walter Le Roy Bumpass, 84, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Lakeridge Memorial Designers Chapel with Tracy McWilliams officiating. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Lake Ridge Memorial Designers. Services are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. He died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Lubbock. He was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Lubbock, Texas, to Jesse Franklin and Hester Bumpass. He married Joy Tucker on Aug. 7, 1947, in Lubbock, Texas. She died March 4, 2007. He lived in Lubbock all of his life. His family owned Blue Bonnet Laundry, then Walter owned and operated Sinclair Service Station and later owned and operated Walter Bumpass Shell Service Station. He loved baseball, golf and bowling, and enjoyed all Red Raider Sports. Survivors include one son, Terry Bumpass with wife Sola of Raton, N.M.; one daughter, Jeannie Bartley with husband Kevin of Odessa; one sister, Dorothy Loescher of Lubbock; brother-in-law, Charles Curry of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Ann Bumpass of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Chad Bumpass of Lubbock, Alison Ferguson with husband Ryan of Allen, TX, and Brit Benson with husband Jaret of Garland, TX; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Deron, Simon and Jonas, all of Allen.
