Belva spent her entire life being a homemaker providing a happy home for her husband, her children and her 18 grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and she said that she began cooking meals for her family when she was about 8 or 10 years old because her mother died. She said that Papa Williams would place a wood crate next to the stove so she could stand on it to be tall enough to cook. She was famous for her homemade yeast rolls which she made almost daily for many years. Belva was affectionaly known as Nanny to her 18 granchildren. She had a wonderful infectious laugh and was so loving, kind, and patient. Belva enjoyed music and would play "Mockingbird Hill" on the piano and her pump organ. She died on May 31, 1994 after a long illness. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she is greatly missed.
