Bio

Daughter of Josef Skarpa(Skrpa). First wife of Ludwig Smesny. They married Nov 9, 1926 in Wallis, Texas. She was the mother of five children. OBITUARY FROM THE LIBERTY VINDICATOR: Dayton Woman Dies Monday Mrs. Francis Smesny, resident of Dayton for 19 years, passed away Monday in a local hospital after a short illness. She was 40 years old. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Eastgate Church with the Rev. Charles Kunc officiating. Interment was in the Eastgate Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Mrs. Smesny is survived by her husband, Ludvig Smesny; three sons, Edwin, Albert and Max; two daughters, Henrietta and Edith; four brothers, Joe, Frank, Anton, and Ed Skarpa, all of Dayton; three sisters, Mrs. Rosie Lukasheay of Porter, Mrs. Mary Zernicek of Bay City, and Mrs. Louise Hajdik of Dayton.
