Bio

Henrietta Smesny married Jerome James "Jerry" Hlavaty on July 29, 1950, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Eastgate, Texas. They were the parents of four sons and three daughters. Jerry and Henrietta were married 45 years when Henrietta died in December of 1995. Henrietta Smesny Hlavaty was preceded in death by her parents, Ludvik Smesny and Frances Skarpa Smesny, and her son, Larry Hlavaty. ************************************************************ OBITUARY FROM THE VICTORIA ADVOCATE, Victoria, Texas, Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1995 HENRIETTA S. HLAVATY LOLITA--Henrietta Betty Hlavaty, 66, of Lolita died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1995. She was born Dec. 20, 1929, in East Gate and married Jerome James Hlavaty of Lolita in 1950. A resident of Jackson County since 1960, Mrs. Hlavaty was a homemaker who attended St. John Bosco Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the KJZT Lodge of La Salle and SPJST of La Salle. Survivors: husband; daughters, Carolyn King of St. Louis, Mo., Patricia Hartman of Cuero and Jeanette Hlavaty of Bay City; sons, Jerome Hlavaty of Edna, Donald Hlavaty of Henderson and Stephen Hlavaty of San Antonio; sister, Edith Jasek of Grapeland; brothers, Edwin Smesny and Albert Smesny, both of Houston and Max Smesny of Midlothian; and nine grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Larry Hlavaty in 1980. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at Slavik Funeral Home chapel in Edna. A Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Revs. Michael O'Shaughnessy and Jim Deaconson officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens of Edna, Slavik Funeral Home, Edna. Memorials: St. John Bosco Catholic Church or Hospice of Victoria.
