Albert Smesny married Georgia Baca on June 11, 1956. They were the parents of one son and two daughters. Albert and Georgia were married 41 years at the time of Albert's death. ******************************************************************************** OBITUARY FROM THE BAYTOWN SUN: ALBERT LOUIS SMESNY Albert Louis Smesny, 65, of Houston, died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, after a courageous 4 1/2 year battle with cancer. Mr. Smesny was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Eastgate, the son of Ludvik and Frances Skarpa Smesny. He had resided in the area for 41 years and had retired from Armco Steel after 32 years. Mr. Smesny was wounded in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. He was a life member of the D. A. V. as well as a member of S. P. J. S. T. and St. Dominic Catholic Church. Mr. Smesny is survived by his wife, Georgia B. Smesny of Houston, son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Tearsa Smesny, of Baytown, daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Roach of Katy and Deborah Smesny of Channelview; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin Sr. and June Smesny of Houston, and Max and Georgie Smesny of Midlothian, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Thomas Jasek of Grapeland, brother-in-law, Jerome Hlavaty Sr. of Lolita, Texas; stepmother, Annie Smesny of Bellville, Texas; grandchildren, Krystal Smesny, Aaron Roach, and Joshua Smesny, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by sister, Henrietta Hlavaty, and nephew, Larry Hlavaty. Services were 1:00 p.m. Friday July 25, 1997, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Houston, with Father Anton Sheltz, officiating. Visitation was from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday July 24, 1997, at Sterling-White Chapel in Highlands, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Interment followed at White Cemetery, Highlands. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at P. O. Box 570127, Houston, Texas 77257.
