Bio

~0bit~Leo Delmar, youngest son of James L. and Josie Powell, was born on August 18, 1925, near Walker, and departed this life in the evening of November 21, at his home at the age of 6 years, 3 months, and 3 days, after a lingering illness. Everything that loving hands and medical skill could do was done, but to no avail. Little Delmar was lovable little boy and bore all his suffering, never complaining. His gentle little smile greeted all. He leaves to mourn his departure, his father, mother, four sisters, and four brothers, Vera, now Mrs. Paul Fuessley, Eva, Helen, and Eleanor, Harlan, Arthur, Wilbur, and Elzo, a grandfather, A. M. Dudley, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Troy Mills, with the Rev. W. Craig Tenney, and burial was in the troy Mills Cemetery. 1931, Nov 19 - "Near Troy Mills" Troy Mills, Nov 19 - A group of sympathetic neighbors and friends including Troy Mills business men with fourteen teams and wagons went to the farm home of James Powell three miles southwest of Troy Mills Monday and husked and cribbed 1,500 bushels of corn from fifty acres. Those furnishing teams were Paul DeForrest, Carlton Schantz, Willard Carson, Carl Schonberg, William Cisna, Andrew Nelson, Elza Jeffries, Elmer Webster, Alvin Palmer, Henry Hrdliska, John Henry Fairchilds, Harlin Powell, Paul Fuessley and Arthur Powell. Other huskers were Murray Caldwell, John Simon, Ross Chester, Paul Wilson, Lewis Dudley, Daniel Bird, Gabe Cornwell, Irvin Keller, Arthur Cook, Floyd Mussingham, Ernest Diltz, H B Bunker, J B Diltz, Willard Powell, Irvin Musser, Orvalle Washburn, Nelson Rose, Charles Cherry, Walter Baty, Oakley Powell, William Powell, G D Powell, Elzo Powell, Wilbur Powell, Arthur Dudley and William Dudley. Leo Delmer, was a loveable child and a patient sufferer. His bright sunny disposition won him many friends among his playmates as well as the nurses and doctors at the hospital who took care of him throughout his illness. He was ever ready with the words "I'm all right", no matter how severe the pain he suffered and he will be greatly missed from the community as well as his home. Leo Delmer was born on Aug 8, 1925, the youngest son of Mr and Mrs James Powell, on a farm near Troy Mills. He was six years, three months and three days of age, one of a family of nine children.
