Son of Nancy Ellen Catron and John C. Hancock. Buried next to Pearl (Rigney) Hancock, 1893-1970. --------------------------- Wayne County Outlook 12 Nov 1959 The Death Angel visited the home of Dent Hancock and claimed for his victim our loving father who passed away at the Maple Hill Hospital at 10:15 p.m., Nov. 2, 1959. Bro. Dent Hancock was married to Miss Pearl Rigney, Feb. 6, 1910, to this union ten children were born. Bonnie preceded him in death on June 16, 1930. Nine children still are living, namely : Orvel Hancock, Windy, Ky.; Marvin Hancock, Somerset, Ky.; Myrta Ballenger, New Castle, Ind.; Willie Hancock, Powersburg, Ky.; Hubert Hancock, New Castle, Ind.; Vasco Hancock, New Castle, Ind.; Chester Hancock, Huntington, Ind.; Robert Hancock, Powersburg, Ky.; and 25 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two brothers, George Hancock of Powersburg and James Hancock of Cleveland, Ohio, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and remained a member until his passing. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Rev. Robert Richardson and Bro. Parrigin officiating. Singing by the Pleasant Hill choir. Pallbearers: Odis Catron, Dave Catron, Oscar Catron, Robert Hancock, Newel Hancock, Dexter Hancock and Donnie Brown. His remains were laid in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery to await the resurrection.
