Bio
Walter P. Schutza, age 37, native of McLennan County and resident of Elm Mott died in a Waco hospital at 6 a.m. Sunday (April 7, 1946). Funeral services were held at the residence at 2 p.m. Monday and at St. Paul's church at Gerald at 3 p.m., Rev. R. Mueller and Rev. Mr. Kruger officiating. Interment was in Gerald cemetery. Mr. Schutza was a prominent businessman and civic leader at Elm Mott. He had operated a business there for the past 18 years. He is survived by his widow; 3 children: Glenn, Virginia Ruth and Betty Rose; his mother, Mrs. Annie Landfried of West; five brothers, Alfred, Ben, Charlie, Edwin, all off West, Henry of Fort Worth, one sister Mrs. Christine Herzog of Waco; three half-sister. The West News, April 12, 1946 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ According to his death certificate and obituary he died April 7, 1946 and was buried on April 8, 1946, however the headstone has April 1, 1946 as date of death. He died at the age of 37 from pancreatic cancer.
