Hudec, Leo Frank Leo Hudec Funeral Services Held Nov. 11 Leo Frank Hudec, 86, of Weimar, died, Sunday Nov. 9, at Citizens Hospital in Victoria. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at St. Michael Church with Father John Bily officiating. Altar servers were Brian Hudec and Samuel Winkler; Liturgy Readers, Monica Heine and Mary Beth Koenig. Organist was Debbie Armstrong; and offertory gifts were carried by Mark Hudec and Barbara Lee Fischer. Interment followed at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Hudec was born May 18, 1917 in Osage to Josef J. Hudec and Amelia Dworsky. He Married Rosie Rabel on Jan. 20, 1947 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar. Mr. Hudec was an auto mechanic and lived in this area all his life. During World War II, he was a Staff Sergeant with the 62nd Signal Battalion of the United States 5th Army and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious services in support of Combat Operations in Italy by General Eisenhower. He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Society. Mr. Hudec is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Diehl and Lillie Etta Hudec, both of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers, Adolph, Alfons, John, and Joseph; and two sisters, Hattie Chovanec and Josephine Hudec. Pallbearers were Michael Winkler, Kenneth Rabel, Steve Rabel, Brian Beck, Mike Armstrong, Alfons Hudec, Paul Hudec and John Hudec. The Weimar Mercury, November 20, 2003
