The Wellington Leader April 2, 1981 Mrs. Myrtle Ruth Fields died at 9:45 Sunday, March 29, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo after an illness of several months. She had lived in Wellington for 37 years, coming here from Sulphur Springs. She was a former employee of Spartan Industries of Childress, commuting with a group from here. The former Myrtle Ruth Thomas was born at Sulphur Springs on June 28, 1923, the daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas and the late John R. Thomas. She grew up in Sulphur Springs and was married to James W. Fields on October 8, 1941. She died May 28, 1978. Mrs. Fields was a member of Faith Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two sons, Arvin L. Fields of Arlington and James Fields of Wellington; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Browning and Mrs. Neva Jeffrey of Wellington; her mother Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas of Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. Thomas Nix of Fort Worth; two brothers, Cloy Edward Thomas of Irving and Billy W. Thomas of Malakoff. There are seven grandchildren. Angie Mitchell Martin
