Chester Vernon Gates was the son of Lucy Belle Hunter Gates and Benjamin Parker Gates. He was born on September 21, 1882 in Parks Place, Panola Co, MS. He married Ollie Belle Abbott on December 5, 1914 in Dallas, Dallas Co, TX. Their only child, Lucille Clyde Gates, was born in Tulsa, Tulsa Co, OK on September 12, 1915. By 1920, Chester and family had moved to 415 W. Page Street in Dallas, Dallas Co, TX. He worked for Magnolia Petroleum Company.
