Lloyd Hunter Gates, Sr. was the son of Benjamin Parker Gates and Lucy Belle Hunter. He was born in January 1895 in Panola Co, MS. He married Inez Robinson Gilleylen. They were the parents of Dorothy "Dot" Gates (Collins) and Lloyd Hunter Gates, Jr.
