From The Palmer Journal, August 10, 1967, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Funeral Services Held For Wm. C. Semple - Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Palmer Methodist church for Wm. C. Semple, 80, who passed away August 2 in the St. Paul hospital.... Mr. Semple was born October 7, 1886, on a farm near Palmer to Mr. and Mrs. James Semple. On July 22, 1908 he and Miss Ada Tuttle were married at St. Paul. They lived on a farm east of Palmer for a short time before he began working for the Burlington railroad in Lincoln. Upon retirement as an engineer in 1945, they returned to Palmer. He is survived by his widow, 2 sons, Robert of Fort Meade and Harold of Burwell; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Vlach of Grand Island; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Fisher of Polk. Preceding him in death were his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters and a son.
