Semple - ...(Funeral details)... Margaret Jane Davis Semple was born December 31, 1862 in Carrol County, Ohio and passed to the beyond July 9, 1945 at Grand Island Nebraska. In 1880 with her parents she came to Mahaska County Iowa and March 22, 1881 she was united in marriage to Daniel James Semple in above named county. In the fall of 1884 they came to Nebraska in a covered wagon and made their home nine miles west of Central City, Nebraska till the fall of 1885 when they moved to a homestead three miles east of Palmer where they made their home and their children grew up. This union was blessed with five children, Mrs. Pearl Tschudy of Archer, William C. of Lincoln, Mrs. Bertha Fisher of Polk, John W. of Palmer and Lelia Stroup who preceded her in death March 6, 1926. October 29, 1893, by letter she became a member of the Methodist church of Palmer, where her membership has been maintained. She was a well loved and highly respected person in the community, very much interested in the best welfare of all. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, living and practicing the Christian principles as best she knew how. About 1915 after the organization of a Sunday School in district 31 she was superintendent looking after all the interests of the school. When her husband preceded her in death March 7, 1929, she tried to maintain the home, but soon was convinced, it was better to stay with the children. For ten years she made her home with Bertha and in the fall of 1942 she came to Pearl at Archer. She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, a foster sister and many friends.
