Served with Co. G of the 3rd IL Cavalry during the Civil War per list of veteran burials in Nebraska. ---------------------------------- OGG, GEORGE W.—George W. Ogg, aged 86 years, 8 months and 14 days, Civil War Veteran and a resident of Nebraska since 1893, died at 2:30 o’clock Thursday morning, August 27, 1931, at his home 449 North Fifty-sixth Street, Lincoln. He had lived in Lincoln fifteen years. Born at Madison, Ky., January 13, 1845, he moved to Illinois with his parents when a small boy. He enlisted in the Union Army on his nineteenth birthday and served with Company G, Third Illinois Cavalry, until the end of hostilities. He was in several major battles during the later campaigns of the war. He remained in Illinois for several years after he was mustered out of the Army. He came west to Kansas, where he lived in Fort Scott for a number of years. In 1893 he moved with his family onto a farm near Geneva, Neb., living there until 1904, when his wife passed to the Great Beyond. He then moved to Geneva with his family and made his home there until he came to Lincoln in 1916. He is survived by three sons, Albert E. and Earl W. of Lincoln, and Curtis A. of Geneva; two brothers, Flemm of California, B. B. of Geneva, two sisters, Melvina Newell of Winfield, Kas., and Elizabeth Hosack of Chugwater, Wyo., twenty grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Three daughters preceded him in death. The body was brought to Geneva, where a short funeral service was held at the grave, conducted by Rev. David Tudor at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
