OGG, CURTIS ALVIN—Curtis Alvin Ogg was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Ogg, May 3, 1886, near Ft. Scott, Kas. He suddenly passed away at his home in Geneva, Neb., Saturday evening, September 18, 1937. He passed away in his sleep shortly after retiring. He came with his parents to a farm near Geneva at the early age of seven years. Here he grew to manhood. His education was limited due to a serious illness during his adolescence, which permanently affected his health and left him with organic heart trouble which has since abridged his activities and eventually caused his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Susie Larson on June 26, 1910, at Hastings, Neb., following which the young couple spent three years on a farm near Geneva. In 1913 Mr. Ogg moved to Wyoming, where he and his wife homesteaded for six years, returning in 1919 to Geneva, where the family has since resided. His home was blessed by four children, Muriel, Wesley, Leland and Laverne, who, with his bereaved wife remain to mourn the loss of this beloved father and husband. Mr. Ogg was one of a family of six children, four from a first marriage, the others, Earl of Blackwell, Ok., Mrs. Ella Benton and Mrs. Vina Humphrey, all preceding him in death, and two from a second marriage, a half-sister (deceased) Lizzie McCashland and Bert now living in Lincoln, Neb. His mother passed away in 1904 when he was eighteen years of age; his father living until 1931. Mr. Ogg was received into the fellowship of the Geneva Congregational church in 1926 from the Christian church. He was initiated into the local I. O. O. F. lodge in 1925, in which he has since been active. Mr. Ogg served as a member of the city council. He was manager of the municipal swimming pool its first year. Besides the immediate relatives, he leaves to mourn his passing a number of other relatives and hosts of friends who have known Curt Ogg as a genial, helpful and worthy neighbor and citizen. His friendly presence so suddenly terminated will be deeply missed by all. The funeral service was held at the congregation church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon and was conducted by Dr. Edward W. Day. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal September 23rd, 1937 page 1.
