Bio

Gladys Heyerly died Aug. 28 at her home in Hubbard following a long illness. She was born at Canby on Aug. 18, 1907, to John W. and Grace E. Troyer Berkey. She grew up and spent nearly all her life in the Hubbard area. She was married to Jesse Heyerly at Hubbard on Nov. 7, 1927. He preceded her in death in 1933. For nearly 40 years she was employed as bookkeeper for the Voget Meat Company at Hubbard. She was also a quilter and homemaker. Mrs. Heyerly is survived by her son, Keith Heyerly of Hubbard, and daughter, Shirley Gerig, who lives near Salem; three brothers, Willis Berkey and Kenneth Berkey, both of Hubbard, and Richard Berkey of Molalla; three sisters, Blanche Heyerly of Molalla, Ruth Hostetler of Canby and Helen Reznicsek of Hubbard; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One great grandchild preceded her in death. She was a member of the Calvary Mennonite Church at Aurora. A memorial service was held at the Calvary Mennonite Church, Aurora, Saturday, Aug. 31. Private internment was held at the Zion Mennonite Cemetery at Hubbard. Funeral arrangements were by Cornwell Colonial chapel in Woodburn. Canby Herald, September 4, 1985, page 3
