Ruth Grace Hostetler 1923 - February 21, 2014 Ruth Hostetler, 91, went to be with the Lord February 21, 2014, in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Ruth was born in Woodburn, OR, in 1923 to parents John and grace Berkey. She married Harley Hostetler and they raised their two children on a farm in Aurora. Shortly after Harley's death in 1953, she moved the family into Canby and began working for the Canby School District, advancing from cook to District Secretary before her retirement in 1985. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her family was her greatest joy. She loved adventure, baking, her grandchildren, and her faith. An active member of Calvary Mennonite Church, she spent every Wednesday quilting with the Women's Missionary Society. She will remembered for her strong spirit, devotion to her family, love of God, legendary pies, and the way that she made each grandchild feel like the most important person in her life. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband and daughters, Roxanne and Judy. Mourning her loss is her son Randy Hostetler, son in law Doug Stutzman, grandchildren; Shane Stutzman (Cindy), Jill Purtzer (Bryce), Lynn Herron (Stan), Grace Yelton, (Scott), Jim Doak (Kris), Lena Glenn (John), and Katie Abney, as well as sixteen great grandchildren, sister Helen Reznicsek and brother Richard Berkey. Services will be held at Calvary Mennonite Church Saturday March 1st, 2014 at 1pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee. There is no greater love than to give your life for others. This is what Ruth did for her family; this is what Christ did for us all. ~ Canby Herald; Feb. 2014
