18 December 1868 Hall County Probate and Justice Docket # 1, p. 139. Henry Lillienthal, age 24 of Hall county & Maria Guelzow (Gulzow), age 22 of Hall County. At the age of 39 on 11 July 1884 married Mrs. Marie or Mary D. (Wilhelmi - written as Wilhelmy in the book) Gerbig as recorded in Merrick County Marriage Book B, page 14, Certificate # 460. Mary was the daughter of Dietrich & Margaret (Darbeck) Wilhelmi. Grand Island Daily Independent Thursday 22 Feb 1912 Prominent Pioneer Dies Passes Away at St. Francis After Long Illness Heinrich Lilienthal, one of the prominent residents in this vicinity, passed away this morning at St. Francis hospital after a long sickness. He was troubled with bowel trouble for months, and his condition became such that there was no possible relief for him except through and operation, which was performed last week. He had been suffering with cancer trouble. Mr. Lilienthal was born in the year 1845 in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, and came to this country and settled here in the year 1860 with his parents and two brothers. He was fifteen years of age at that time and with the parents followed farming, which he kept up constantly until about six years ago when they moved to south Grand Island to live. Mr. Lilienthal was the father of five children (actually six) by his first wife, four of whom are still living. In the month of July 1882, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Maria Gerbe (Gerbig), sister of William and August Wilhelmi. Besides here there are left to mourn Henry Lilienthal, Mrs. Tina Schaaf, Mrs. Adelia Wiese, Detlef Lilienthal and William Gerbe. (Gerbig). Mr. Lilienthal was a member of the A.O.U.W. lodge. The funeral will be next Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home, about a mile south of the city.
