Daughter of John and Millie (Novak) Kubicek in Valparaiso. She attended District #9 Country School in the valley. On Aug. 22, 1934, she was united in marriage to Marvin Dawes. To this union four children were born. Lillian was a homemaker on the family farm. During this time, she worked at the Osceola Good Samaritan Center, where she received her geriatric training as a nurse. They moved into to Osceola in 1975. She continued working at the Osceola Good Samaritan Society for 16 years before retiring in August 1977. On May 11, 1985, her husband, Marvin, passed away. On Nov. 14, 1987, she was united in marriage to Leo Albers. They lived in Osceola when Leo passed away June 18, 1990. In Sept. of 2009, at the age of 97, she went on a family vacation to Pasadena, Calif., to visit her daughter, Lorraine. While there she attended a Dodgers game, opening day at Santa Anita Race Track and numerous other activities. She was a member of the St. Vincent's Altar Society, a 15-year member of the Garden Club and a 68-year member of Chapel Extension Club. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bingo, polka music, quilting, embroidering, dancing, playing pool, attending church dinners on Sundays and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include four daughters, Jenonne (Huey) Shaffer, of Culver City, Calif., Lorraine (Mike) Smith, of Pasadena, Calif., Carolee (James) Scow, of Columbus, and Marcia Weddle, of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren, Christy, Craig, Heidi, Michele, Chris, Clint, J.D., Clayton, Spencer and Andrew; nine great-grandchildren, Gannon, Jackson, Tesa, Victoria, Sawyer, Caroline, Declan, Scotty and Finigan; one brother, Edward Kubicek, of Columbus; sister-in-law, Tillie Kubicek, of Columbus; and brother-in-law, James Alt, of Columbus; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husbands, Marvin Dawes and Leo Albers; grandson, Scott; brothers, John, Emil, Charlie, Joseph, Louie, and William Kubicek; and sisters, Mary Glatter Dobias, Helen Alt and Rose Gabel Lux.
