Jesse Powers Tackett married Willie Lee Garvin on 5 July 1914 in a beautiful home ceremony with Rev. Gaines B. Hall officiating. After the wedding, the couple lived at 822 Oak Street. She preceded him in death. Jesse Tackett, 84, was a long time resident of Graham and former City Engineer. Mr. Tackett moved to Young County with his parents in 1898 from Ellis County, Texas. His first job in Graham was at the Cotton Oil Mill. He was employed by the City of Graham on 8 August 1915 at Water Superintendent. He held this position until 1926 when he became City Engineer. On 1 September 1951, Mr. Tackett became City Manager of Graham. He retired as Graham City Manager and later was employed as Director of Public Works. Mr. Tackett is a member of the Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and an Officer of Civil Defense. He was interested in all civic improvements and has worked on many projects that have shown growth for the City of Graham. Mr. Tackett was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Rotary Club in Graham from 1942-1967. Survived by one son - J. Powell Tackett; three daughters - Mrs. Jim "Billie" DeWitt, Mrs. Bruce "Leola" Scott and Mrs. Tracy Wilkinson; two sisters - Miss Lessye Tackett and Mrs. Eunice Rawlings; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
