Bio

Jesse Powers Tackett married Willie Lee Garvin on 5 July 1914 in a beautiful home ceremony with Rev. Gaines B. Hall officiating. After the wedding, the couple lived at 822 Oak Street. Willie Garvin was born in the Finis Community in Jack County, Texas. She moved to Graham the next year with her parents. Her father, William Garvin owned a grocery business on the corner of Oak and Fourth Street. Services for Willie Lee Tackett, 71, were held at First Methodist Church officiated by Dr. D.L. McCree. Mrs. Tackett was an active member of the First Methodist Church for many years and past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Rebeccah Lodge and many social clubs in Graham, Texas. Survived by her husband; one son - J. Powell Tackett; three daughters -Mrs. Bruce Scott, Mrs. Jim DeWitt, Mrs. Bill Malone; one sister - Mrs. Lillie Perkins; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
