Mrs. Julie Cocek, 51-Year Resident; Buried Thursday Mrs. Julie Cocek, 68, passed away at her home Monday afternoon following a serious illness of two months. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Czech Moravian Brethren Church by the Rev. J. F. Kostohryz. Burial was in the CMB Cemetery. Born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gerik at Wesley in South Texas. Mrs. Cocek came to West some 51 years ago and had lived here since. Her husband, Joe Cocek, preceded her in death in 1944. A son, Arnold, also preceded Mrs. Cocek in death in 1943 at the age of 14. Mrs. Cocek was a member of the Christian Sisters of the Czech Moravian Brethren Church and served as a director of the West Welfare Association. Survivors are three sons, Joe Cocek of Hawthorne, California, Alphonse Cocek of West, and William Cocek of Corpus Christi; five daughters, Mrs. Mollie Ctvrtlik of Waco, Mrs. Olga Phife of Dallas, Mrs. Hattie Urbanovsky of Temple, Miss Leona Cocek of West, Mrs. Lillian Borgeson of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. J.F. Kostohryz, of West; and 11 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Emmett Barton, John Kostohryz, Hynek Kostohryz, Joe Svacek, Ed Janek and Joe Foit.
