Bio

Frank Petska Sr. 92 a pioneer of the Ord vicinity, died Friday afternoon at his home in Ord following an illness since last summer. Funeral services were held at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord, by the Rev. Thomas Siudowski. Burial in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Frank was born in Czechoslovakia to John and Barbara Urich Petska. He came to the U.S in 1871 with his parents. They settled in Conover Iowa, where they lived for 12 years. In 1883 they came to Geranium Township in Valley County. Frank was a retired farmer and also served several years as a county supervisor as well as a justice of the peace.He was a member of the Ord Catholic Church. He was married to Mary Ann Beran Jan 20 1890 in the Geranium Catholic Church west of Ord. Surviving in addition to his wife, are four sons, Joseph and Stanley of Ord, Louis of Grand Island, and George of Orange Calif. two daughters Mrs. Barbara Capek of Fort Morgan Colo. and Mrs Mary Highland of Riverton Wyo., a brother James Petska of Ord, three sisters Mrs Barbara Kokes and Mrs Frances Andersen of Ord, and Mrs Anna Papousek of Iowa, 19 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
