Bio
Mr and Mrs John Petska ( Johann Pecka) and eight children were amoung the early pioneers in Valley county, settling in Geranium community in 1883. John and his wife, the former Barbara Ulrich were both born and married in Czechoslovakia. A passport issued to them at Pisku, Czech. in 1871 shows that John & Barbara & 3 small children; Frank 6, James 4 & Anna 2, John's brother James 21 and John's mother came to America and settled in the Conover Iowa Vicinity. They lived there for 12 years. While there 5 more children were born, Mary, Veronica, Rose, Barbara and Frances. They ventured on to Valley county in 1883. Here they lived the rest of their lives.
