OBITUARY W.C. (Bill) Mathews, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 11, in Memorial Hospital, Hobart, Okla. He was a native of Lamar County. Gish Funeral Home of Hobart will have charge of funeral arrangements. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery here. Mr. Mathews was born in the Broadway community of Lamar County on Oct 1, 1902, a son of George W. and Martha Jane Heflin Mathews. He was a retired law officer in Kiowa County, Okla. Surviving are his wife, Ruby; two sisters, Annie Mae McFadden of Paris and Ethel Player of San Leandro, Calif., and a brother, George Mathews of Paris. --from The Paris News , Friday, Jan 12, 1990, page 4A
