Herald Coaster, November 4, 1991: Funeral services for Charlie Joe Vacek, 82, of East Bernard, are scheduled 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Father Jerry Cernoch will officiate. A rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mr. Vacek was born Jan. 9, 1909 in East Bernard. He died Sunday at his home. Survivors include a daughter, Sophie Prokop of Houston; two sons and their wives, Jerome C. and Dorothy Vacek of Corsicana, and Richard A. and Betty Vacek of Rosenberg; two sisters, Annie Novosad of Karnes City and Mary Vanek of East Bernard; three brothers, Sylvester Vacek of Wharton, John R. Vacek of Dickenson, and Alphonse Vacek of East Bernard; six grandchildren, Kenneth Prokop, Michele Carpenter, Theresa James, Lisa Ivic, Chip Vacek, and Ann Marie Vacek; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Prokop, Raymond Dusek, Ivan Vacek, Dick Carpenter, Lad Macha, and Chip Vacek. Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Perpetual Care Fund and the Monsignor Kukral Alter Boy Fund. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in East Bernard.
