Mrs. Angeline Vacek Janis, 74, of East Bernard died Sunday, July 18th in a Wharton hospital as a result of critical injuries received in an automobile accident in Wharton. Mrs. Janis was a native of East Bernard and resided there her entire life. She was an active member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, K.J.Z.T., the Christian Mothers, American Legion Auxilary and Rosary Confraternity. Funeral services for Mrs. Janis were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment was in the Holy Cross Mausoleum. Rosary was recited and wake services held at 7:30 p.m. Mond ay at the Triska-Davis-Dawson Funeral Home in East Bernard. She is survived by her husband, John A. Janis; daughters, Mrs. Angeline Grigar, Miss Bernadette Janis, both of East Bernard, Mrs. Marie Novosad of Yugoslavia, Mrs. Lillian Simmons of Bay City, Mrs. Sidonia Svodba [Svoboda] of Wharton and Mrs. ClaudiaKonvicka of Stephenville; a son, Norbert Janis of East Bernard; brothers, Joe E. Vacek, Charlie Vacek, Raymond Vacek and Alfonse Vacek, all of East Bernard, Albin Vacek of Beasley, Sylvester Vacek of Houston and John Vacek of Dickinson; sisters, Mrs. Annie Novosad of Karnes City and Mrs. Marie Vanek of East Bernard; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
