The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), April 15, 1954, p. 4, col. 7 & 8 Mrs. J. C. Waiss, 75, Dies April 3; Services Held Wednesday April 7 Mrs. J. C. Waiss, 75, of Loma, died Saturday, April 3, at the David City Hospital as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been ill about two weeks. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 7, in St. Luke's church, Loma, with Rev. Frank Leiblinger officiating at solemn requiem mass. Assisting were Rev. Chas. Rada and Rev. Edw. Kolar. Pallbearers were Frank Janak of David City, Louis Mergl of Brainard, Hubert Meduna of Weston, and Frank Kantor, John Kantor and Lawrence Maixner of Bee. Burial was in St. Luke's cemetery at Loma. Mrs. Waiss was preceded in death by her husband and four sons, three of whom died in infancy. She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Wm. Daugherty of Lincoln, Mrs. Ray Hawkinson of Valparaiso, Sr. M. Louise de Notre Dame of Omaha, Mrs. August Jesch of Stratton, Miss Agnes Waiss of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Walter Pechek and Mrs. J. C. Pospisil of Tacoma, Wash.; two sons, Adolf Waiss of Tacoma, Wash., and Frank Waiss of Loma; 39 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. ___ p. 9, col. 7 CARD OF THANKS – We wish to thank all the relatives, neighbors and friends for their kind expressions of sympathy at the time of our bereavement.
