KANTOR Mrs. Frantiska Kantor, a resident of the Loma community for many years, passed away at the home of her son, Matt, last Friday evening, Jan. 31, following illness of twelve days due to a paralytic stroke. She was just two days over seventy-nine years of age. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 from St. Luke's Catholic church, Loma, Rev. E. Stadek conducting them. Interment was in St. Luke's cemetery. Frantiska Cerveny was Mrs. Kantor's maiden name and she was born at Horni Becva, Moravia, on Jan. 29, 1857. She was united in marriage to Joseph Kantor on July 3, 1878, and in 1884 they came to America, locating on a farm in Saunders county and later coming to Butler county where they also resided on a farm until retiring and moving to Loma in 1926. Mr. Kantor died May 20, 1931. Since her husband's death she had made her home with her son Matthew. Mrs. Kantor was the mother of fifteen children three of whom died in infancy, a daughter, Agnes died in 1931 and eleven survive. The living children are Joseph Kantor of Chicago, Mrs. J. C. Waiss of Loma, John Kantor and Mrs. Lawrence Maixner of Bee, MRs. Jos. J . Lorenc of Britt, Iowa, Frank Kantor of Bee, Dr. D. B. Kantor of Sargeant, Nebr., Mrs. Louis Mergl of Brainard, Mrs. Frank Janak of David City, Mrs. Hubert Meduna of near Touhy and Matthew of Loma. All of the children and near relatives were present at the funeral. Forthy-one grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren also survive the deceased. Loma, Feb. 4 – Mrs. Frances Kantor, a long-time resident of Loma community, passed away on Friday night at the home of her son, Matthew, following an illness of two weeks due to a stroke of paralysis. Hope of recovery was not despaired of until Thursday preceding her death, when she became very ill. Funeral services were held from St. Luke's Catholic at 9:30 a.m. Monday. High mass was sung by Rev. E. Stadek and the church choir. Interment was in St. Luke's cemetery. Mrs. Kantor was born Frances Cervney at Horni Becva, Moravia Austria-Hungary, January 29, 1857. She was united in marriage to Joseph Kantor on July 3, 1878. The young couple came to the United States in 1884 and located on a farm near Weston where they resided until 1926 when they moved to Loma. Mrs. Kantor was preceded in death by her husband and daughter in 1931 and three children who died in infancy. She had spent the past few years in the home of her youngest son, Matthew. Mrs. Kantor is survived by 11 children, 41 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The surviving children are Joseph Kantor of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. J. C. Waiss of Loma, John Kantor and Mrs. Lawrence Maixner of Bee, Mrs. Joseph Lorenc of Britt, Iowa, Frank Kantor of Bee, Dominic of Sargent, Mrs. Louis Mergl of Brainard, Mrs. Frank Janak of David City Mrs. Hubert Meduna and Matthew of Loma. All the children and near relatives were present at the funeral. Mrs. Kantor will be sadly missed by her relatives and many friends. She bore her troubles with fortitude and patience, never becoming a burden to anyone. She will long be remembered for her many kind acts.
