Funeral Service Held Today for Joseph Tomecek Funeral for Joesph Tomecek, 85, of Schwertner, are being conducted at 9:30 a.m. today at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Corn Hill. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Tomecek died Tuesday morning at his home on an apparent heart attack. Mr. Tomecek was engaged in business in the Schwertner community for about fifty years. He served as Postmaster at Schwertner for more than thirty years until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Sophia Tomecek of Schwertner; two sons, William J. Tomecek of Temple and Bennie L. Tomecek of Schwertner; one daughter, Mrs. Edward J. Groba [per Karen Tomecek this should read Mrs. Edward J. Groba] of Galena Park; five sisters, Mrs. Frances English of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Joe Chasak of Granger, Mrs. Joe F. Kaderka of Bartlett, Mrs. Joe Kocurek of Granger and Mrs. John Kocurek of Corpus Christi; one brother, Lewis [sic] Tomecek of Buffalo; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
