Funeral Services Held For Father Of Residents Walter H. Parks; 630 Dunn St., a dispatcher for the County sheriff's department, died Sunday afternoon at the W. C. Tenery Community Hospital. Funeral services were held May 25, in the Rudolph Owens Chapel of the Chimes with the Revs. Quay Parmer, Leon Baze and Sam Tullock officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Burial Park. Mr. Parks, who was born on April 16, 1900, at Oak Branch, served with the U. S. Marines Corps in World War 1. He married Miss Hattie Lou Fallis on October 26, 1920. Mr. Parks had lived in Ellis County all of his life With the exception of 17 years in Jones and Dickens Counties. He was a member of the Ferris Heights Methodist Church, Ellis County Peace Officers Assn., Brazos Valley Peach Officers Assn. He had been a law enforcement officer for over 30 years. Survivors include the widow; five daughters, Mrs. Elaine Tarin, Virginia Weaver and Thelma Brandon, all of Midlothian, Mrs. Barbara Ralston of Sardis and Mrs. Martha Shinpaugh of Waxahachie; his stepmother, Mrs Atsy Parks of Waxahachie; three brothers, Julius and Tommy Parks, both of Lancaster, and Jim Parks of Midlothian; three sisters, Mrs. Willie Jackson of Cleburne, Mrs. Ruth Hayes and Miss Ruby Parks, both of Waxahachie; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Note: His name at birth was Walden. Unhappy with that name, he changed it to Walter when he joined the Marines at age 16, also adding his middle name Henry after his favorite Uncle.
