Ludwig D. Bezdek, age 79, of Route 1, West, a lifelong resident of the West area, died Wednesday, January 6 at a local hospital. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. Walter Matus and the Rev. B.J. Zientek as celebrants. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Bezdek was born August 18, 1903 in West. He was a retired farmer and rancher and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and KJT Society No. 31. He was married to Hattie Holacka. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ernest L. Bezdek, Sr. of West; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Doris) Konvicka of Waco; a brother, Frank Bezdek of Lancaster; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Pustejovsky of Abbott, Mrs. Marie Pennock of Fort Worth, Mrs. Ed (Helen) Petter of Abbott and Mrs. Ernest (Lucille) Kutscherousky of West; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Frank Pustejovsky, Raymond Kallus, Edward Petter, Marvin Cepak, Edmund Cernosek, George Sulak, Marvin Matus, Eugene Holacka, Sue Key, Ginger Kutscherousky.
