Frances A. Tobola, age 84, a lifelong resident of West, passed away early Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2003 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. A rosary was recited 7:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Tobola was born March 11, 1919 in West, the daughter of Eustis and Frances (Bilek) Bartosh. She attended West Schools and married Jimmie J. Tobola, Jr. on September 29, 1940. Frances worked at Village Bakery, Lichnovsky Grocery, and the Best Theatre. She was a dedicated homemaker and Mother. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where she was active in the Ladies Altar Society and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 829. She was also a member of the West Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society and the K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11, West Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and was a volunteer at West Rest Haven. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and baking. Three brothers, Albin Bartosh, Jerry Bartosh and Ernest Bartosh precede her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Frances Tobola of West; three sons, Retired Lt. Col. Vincent Tobola of Waco, James E. Tobola and his wife Becky Jo of Waco, and Dr. David Tobola and his wife Gail of Bartlesville, OK; two sisters, Agnes Prasifka of Cedar Hill and Mary Jane Chudej and her husband Tony of Lacy-Lakeview; four grandchildren, Charidy Trevino and her husband Florenzio, James Nathan Tobola, and John Tobola; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Trevino, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Mark Tobola, Brit Tobola, Tyce Tobola, Anthony Chudej, Jerry Prasifka, John Prasifka, Larry Vahue, and Louis Tobola. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
