WEST: Ernest (Toby) Tobola, Sr., age 68, of 405 N. Roberts St. in West passed away October 6, 1986 at the Veterans Hospital in Temple. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. October 7 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Michael Lyons. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. October 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ray Widacki as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Tobola was born May 24, 1918 in West to Joe and Bessie Tobola. He married Marie Zahirniak in Waco August 5, 1940. He owned and operated Toby's Bar for 10 years and was a truck driver for West Flour Mill for 20 years. He also served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of SPJST Lodge No. 54, VFW No. 4819, American Legion No. 475 and Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He is survived by: his wife, Marie, of West; two sons, Ernest J. Tobola, Jr. and Harry Lee Tobola, both of West; three daughters, Betty Jean Chudej and Patsy Jones, both of West, and Kathy Lozano of Penelope; two sisters, Mary Rejcek of Waco and Frances Moore of Lacy-Lakeview; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
