Bio

Joseph J. Sykora, Hill Co. Resident, Buried Here Monday Funeral services were held in West Monday for Joseph J. Sykora, resident of Hill County, whose death at 1:30 o'clock Saturday, March 17, was due to hemorrhage of the brain, according to reports of relatives. Rev. E. J. Polcak, pastor of the Church of the Assumption of West, conducted the services at the Chapel of the Aderhold Funeral Home at 9:30 o'clock and at the Church of the Assumption at 10 o'clock Monday morning. The rosary was said at 8 o'clock Sunday night. Interment was at the Catholic Cemetery near West. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sykora. Mr. Sykora was born in this community on Sept. 24, 1891, and except for four years when he lived in North Texas, made his home here for the entire 53 years of his life. For the past seven years he and his family resided on a farm between West and Penelope. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Sykora; three sons, Daniel Sykora of Penelope, and George J. and Joe A. Sykora, with the U.S. Army; two daughters, Misses Frances Sykora of Waco and Mary Ann Sykora of Penelope; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sykora; five brothers, Ludvik, Louis and August C. Sykora of West and Andrew and John Sykora of Waco. Pallbearers were Frank Chudej, Willie Chudej, John Chudej, Dan Urbanovsky, Henry Ondrej and Adolph Hubenak.
