Funeral Services Held Monday For Joe A. Sykora Joe A. Sykora, 43, was rushed to a Hillsboro hospital Friday after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was dead on arrival at the hospital at 10:25 p.m. Requiem Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Sykora was born in West and had lived here all his life. He had been employed at the Ben Franklin Store in West for the past 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, the KJT Lodge No. 31 of West, VFW Post 4819 and was secretary-treasurer of RVOS No. 46. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Dolores Sykora and Rosalie Sykora, both of West; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Vrba of Fort Worth and Mrs. Frances Uzzel of Waco. Pallbearers were Henry Sykora, Joe Mynarcik, Bernard Urbanovsky, all of West, Albert Charanza of Arlington, Cyril B. Svrcek and Cyril Marek, both of Dallas. George X. Smajstrla and Richard Hlavenka of West, George Hubik to Temple, and Johnnie Gaidusek of Waco were honorary pallbearers. VFW Post 4819 stood honor guard at the graveside.
