Bio

Louis J. Snokhous, 89, of West, a longtime blacksmith, died Monday morning. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. B.J. Zientek was the celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Snokhous was born on Aug. 19, 1893, near Aquilla Creek. He lived all his life in the Aquilla Creek-West area, where he was a farmer and rancher and owned Snokhous Blacksmith Shop for 62 years. He was a World War I veteran and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion, Knights of Columbus No. 2305, and SPJST No. 6. He was married to Sidonia Dvorsky in 1917. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James A. Snokhous of Guatemala and Raymond J. Snokhous of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Angeline) Sulak of Waco and Mrs. Ernest J. (Evelyn) Urbanovsky of West; two sisters, Mrs. August Pustejovsky and Mrs. Ann Mason, both of West; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were David Urbanovsky, Mark Snokhous, Ray Sulak, Billy Dvorsky, Charles Sulak and Jimmy Snokhous. Honorary Pallbearers were Lawrence Girard, Mike Daniels, Jodie Hannes, Dean Nunnley.
