Alfons A. Smetak Dies In Dallas; Rites Held Fri. Alfons A. Smetak, 67, of Dallas died at 19:05 a.m. Friday in a Dallas hospital. He formerly lived in West. Requiem Mass was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption at West, with Rev. George Doskocil as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Smetak was born in Fayette County. He had lived in West about 50 years before moving to Dallas nine years ago. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dallas. Survivors are two sons, Marcell Smetak of San Mateo, Calif., and Henry Smetak of San Diego, Calif.; five brothers, Bernard Smetak of Whittier, Calif., Frank Smetak of Fort Stockton, Florian Smetak of Rt. 2, West, Louis Smetak and Fred Smetak, both of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Millie McCaig, Mrs. Francis Hardwick and Mrs. Georgia Flaherty, all of Dallas; four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Sam Pinter and Harry Svacek, both of West; Arnold Svacek, Fred Smetak, Jr., and Joe Smetak, all of Dallas; and James Smetak of Texarkana, Ark.
