Bio

J.A. Popp, Pioneer Business Man of West, Died Early Thursday The entire citizenship of West was shocked Thursday morning when it became known that J.A. Popp, prominent local grocery man, had died. Death came about 9:30 a.m. Mr. Popp had been in ill health for some time, but had only been confined to his home about two weeks, and his sudden passing was a distinct shock to all who knew him. Mr. Popp was proprietor of the Popp Grocery Store on North Main Street, and had been in business here for many years. Frank Popp, his brother and partner in the business, died about a year ago. Deceased had been a resident of this city for over twenty years, and leaves a host of friends to grieve his loss. He has always been a prominent citizen of West, and will be remembered as an upright and honest man. He was loved and respected by the whole community. The many friends of the family offer the bereaved ones solace in their time of grief and sympathize with them in their sorrow. Survivors are his widow; one son, John Popp; and two daughters, Albina and Lillian Popp, all of West. Funeral services had not been arranged when this paper went to press.
