Frank Pavlas, age 92, f Route 2, Abbott, passed away early Friday morning, September 2 at his residence. A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, by Rev. Melvin Dornak. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Melvin Dornak and Rev. B.J. Zientek concelebrating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Pavlas was born February 8, 1902, in Praha, Texas, the son of Felix and Frances Pavlas, he married Lillie Matus on July 10, 1922, in West. She preceded him in death on October 8, 1985. He was a farmer all of his life before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 6 in Cottonwood and a member of the K.J.T. Society No. 31 in West. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He is survived by two daughters, Lillie Smajstrla and her husband, George X, and Annie Hlavenka and her husband Richard, all of West; one brother Victor Pavlas of Abbott; two granddaughters, Denise Muska and Suzanne Ferrero and her husband, Larry, all of West; two great-grandsons, Brian Muska and Dean Muska, both of West; two great-granddaughters, Lauren Ferrero and Leanne Ferrero both of West; and several nieces of nephews. Pallbearers were Larry Ferrero, Clarence Matus, Sam Polansky, Johnny Slovak, Dr. Walter Mellgren, Jr., and Adolph Muska. Honorary pallbearers were Victor Pavlas, Jr., Charlie Pavlas, and Willie Mae Polansky. Aderhold Funeral Home was in West was in charge of arrangements.
