illie Marie Smajstrla, age 91, of West, passed away late Tuesday morning, July 14, 2015 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Anthony Odiong as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Lillie was born January 7, 1924 in Abbott, the daughter of Frank and Lillie (Matus) Pavlas. She attended the old Brooken school near Abbott and was a 1941 graduate of West High School. Lillie grew up on the Pavlas family farm picking cotton and shucking corn. On July 15, 1946 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, George Xavier Smajstrla Sr. in West. George preceded her in death on August 19, 2013. Lillie and George owned and operated West True Value Hardware and the Ben Franklin Store for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of St. Ann's Alter Society and KJZT St. Ludmila Society #11 in West. Lillie enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillie is also preceded in death by her parents and a son, George X. Smajstrla Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Denise Muska of West; grandsons, Brian Muska and wife Liz and Dean Muska; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Hannah; a sister, Annie Hlavenka and husband Richard; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
