Victor Pavlas, Sr., 98, of West, passed away Thursday morning, May 24, 2007, at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home led by Janice Kaluza. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Gary Swirczynski as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Victor was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Felix and Frances (Odlozelik) Pavlas. On November 26, 1929, he was united in marriage to Lillie Snapka in West. Victor was a farmer all his life before retiring in December of 2001. He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. He was also a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54 in West and R.V.O.S. Lodge No. 46 in Cottonwood. Victor enjoyed his animals, especially his dogs, playing bingo, and watching wrestling. His joy in life was Czech music and playing the accordion, he had his own band by the name of Victor Pavlas and the Melody Masters. He also loved to volunteer and play at West Rest Haven where he would go from station to station entertaining the residents. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie, on August 13, 1973; eleven brothers and sisters; a grandson, Larry Pavlas; a granddaughter, Katherine Pavlas; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Pavlas. Survivors include sons, Victor Pavlas Jr. and wife, Mary Ann and Charlie Pavlas and wife, Lil, all of Abbott; daughter, Willie Mae Polansky and husband, Sam, of Abbott; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
