Bio
Josephine J. Matus, age 66, of 502 S. Davis St., passed away at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Miss Matus was born March 19, 1917, in McLennan County around the Hoen-Tours area. She lived in Dallas prior to moving back to West about five years ago. In Dallas, she worked for a company that produced oil field equipment. She belonged to RVOS Lodge in Cottonwood and to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Miss Matus is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Skopik of West and Mrs. Rosie Filer of Bellmead and several nieces and nephews. Rosary was recited at at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ryenold Matus of St. George Catholic Church in Ft. Worth. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, the Rev. Ryenold Matus as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Matus, Larry Matus, David Matus, Louis Skopik, Bob Wright and Eugene Krajca. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 94, No. 12, Edition 1, Thursday, March 22, 1984, Page 7
